Club Meetings
Due to covid concerns the meeting rooms in the Syosset Public Library may or may not be open for in-person meetings. When meeting rooms are not available to us continue with online meetings via Zoom.
LISF Meetings are generally scheduled for the third Thursday of each month with some exceptions: for example, January and February are currently months with no meetings. Also weather and library programs may force scheduling changes to be in-person meetings. Check our calendar for the latest meeting dates, times and other information.
LISF Family Day
You’ll find the annual LISF hosted family day in our calendar. LISF members and their guests are welcome. If you have a pop-up canopy, bring it for shade. Due to covid the food sharing table has been discontinued, so bring your own food and LISF will provide cold water and soda.
Hours are generally 11 to 5, but really there is no specific time. Come on down. Planning to attend? You’ll find maps and directions for your guests here.
LISF Hosted ESL Contests
These are thermal duration contests and ALES (Altitude Limited Electric Soaring) contests. You’ll find LISF hosted ESL (Eastern Soaring League) contest dates in our current contest schedule, which lists both hosted ESL and LISF club contest dates.
If you’re interested in other ESL contests or just more information about the ESL contests that LISF hosts, here is the complete ESL calendar with links to each contest’s webpage. Note that ESL contests don’t get going until April of each year.
You’ll find maps and directions here.
LISF Flying Aces Squadron 52 Contests
These are free-flight contests. Flying Aces Club is a separate free-flight club that LISF shares some club members, resources, field access and meetings with.
You’ll find contest dates for those FAC contests held at Stillwell Field in our current contest schedule.
More details may be found in the LISF club calendar.
If you’re interested in related contests here is the FAC’s contest calendar.

Trail Map
Stillwell Preserve Trail Map – This is a simple map, but still valuable. Note that Stillwell Loop is a one-way trail.
Google Earth Historical Imagery will allow you to view trails that may not show up in maps with more foliage. If you’re lucky the trails shown might not be overgrown, yet. Being able to get latitude and longitude coordinates from Google Earth can help immensely in negotiating these trails.
