Location

The flying field in Stillwell Woods Park, Syosset is located on Long Island, about thirty miles east of New York City. When using Google Search, Google Maps or GPS the field’s lat, lon is 40.832170,-73.473596. Your car’s navigation system may also be able to use the address: 25 Southwoods Road, Syosset, NY 11791-2925.

Members of the club and Eastern Soaring League contestants may drive into the field. Others will have to park close, in Stillwell Park’s asphalt parking lot, and walk into the preserve to the flying field. It’s about a two minute walk.

Suggested Route

• Take the Long Island Expressway, Northern State Parkway or the Southern State Parkway East to Route 135 (Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway).

• Take Route 135 North to Exit 14E Woodbury. This puts you on Jericho Turnpike / Route 25 East.

• Proceed east on Jericho Turnpike about 1 mile. You will see a golf course on your left. Turn left at the end of the golf course onto Southwoods Road heading north. Southwoods Road is between the golf course and a shopping center.

• In about a mile you will see Syosset High School on your left and at the end of the high school a Stillwell Park sports field on your right. Turn right into the sports field parking lot and proceed along the right side to the rear.

• Visitors park in Stillwell Park’s asphalt parking lot, and walk into the preserve to the flying field. It’s about a two minute walk. Members of the club and Eastern Soaring League contestants go through the orange gate to a dirt road.

• The flying field is at the end of the short dirt road. Drive along the edge of the field, staying about a car length away from the uncut grass, to where you see other pilots parked.
